Ranked at No. 13, out of 67 counties, Escambia has 1,339 AIDS cases, and 468 people with HIV. In Santa Rosa County , the numbers are lower, with 167 AIDS and 85 HIV cases.  According to the Florida Department of Health, Florida ranks third in the nation in the number of AIDS cases, and second in the nation for the number of pediatric AIDS cases. The department’s “Silence is Death” report shows that in 2005, 81,585 people were living with HIV/AIDS in the state. Of those infected, African-Americans accounted for 51 percent, although they made up just 14 percent of the population. Hispanics, who also made up 17 percent of HIV/AIDS cases, accounted for 18 percent of the population.

- Community Information Network (CIN), 14 West Jordan St., Pensacola.
Testing hours: 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Walk-ins are welcome, but call before coming.

- HIV Outreach Prevention Education (HOPE) Program, 3300 North Pace Blvd, Suites 308 and 317, Pensacola.
Testing hours: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Appointments preferred.

- PHASE Program, 6425 North Pensacola Blvd., Building 1, Suite 4, Pensacola.
Testing hours: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Appointments only; rapid testing available.

- Escambia County Health Department, 1295 West Fairfield Drive, Pensacola.
Testing Hours: 7:45 a.m. and
12:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday; 7:45 a.m., Friday; Walk-In: first 12 will be seen. Night Clinic: 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesdays.
